Halliday Marx are working on an exclusive basis to recruit an excellent Accounts Assistant who is looking to progress their career in a fantastic Media company within finance.

This incredible media company is experiencing rapid growth and as such the finance team is expanding rapidly. This role will be a new role within the organisation and, as such, will have a lot of scope for development and will require the chosen candidate to be flexible and adaptable. The chosen candidate will be working closely with the financial controller in the implementation of processes and procedures within the organisation that do not currently exist.

The ideal applicant will also buy into the culture of the company and be excited by the potential of the organisation and prospects for the growth of the company and also for the role itself.

Main duties of the role

  • Receive, record and process all purchase invoices for both the London and US offices
  • Ensure all invoices have been authorised before entering onto the purchase ledger
  • Work closely with the Financial controller in many aspects, but particularly in the implementation of a Purchase Order system which the company does not currently operate but will move towards within the next 3-6 months
  • Receive and process all expense claims and requests for payments
  • Deal with petty cash as and when required and ensure all reconciliations are complete by the end of the month
  • The role may develop to take on some management accounting duties
  • Weekly reconciliations of bank accounts (currently 5)
  • Maintain cash payment book and update on regular basis by printing bank statements and allocating payments in our accounting software
  • Provide assistance to the rest of the finance team when required
  • The role is a new role so duties may well change. The chosen candidate will need to be accepting of this and embrace new challenges

Person Specification

  • At least 1 years’ experience of working within a finance team
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft excel
  • Knowledge of Sage accounting software is preferable but not essential
  • Experience of developing and implementing finance processes and procedures and ensuring company compliance to them is an advantage
  • Experience of working within a similar industry


  • Educated to degree level
