A media business requires a Financial Controller to join their growing and flourishing finance department. This is a key role within the organisation, supporting the senior business team. The role will be responsible for the day-to-day Management/Financial Accounting and ensuring the company’s financial health, supported by the Finance Assistant and providing direct support to the Finance Director and wider business.

Role Responsibilities –

• Responsible for the end to end month end process. This includes preparation of monthly financial reports with accurate and detailed analysis of the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital and company KPI’s
• Preparation of the annual budgets and quarterly re-forecast
• Support development of longer term business plans from finance perspective
• Review monthly budget analysis with the relevant department managers
• Manage the 18 month rolling cash flow forecast, review working capital requirements and make recommendations to ensure available cash is appropriately invested
• Monitor daily cash position, manage bank accounts and balances to ensure sufficient cash in accounts to meet short and medium payment requirements
• Manage banking relationships and foreign currency and hedging requirements
• Prepare accurate and timely weekly/monthly management reports for the management team, the Board, sales, projects, and key internal stakeholders to enable informed management decisions.
• Manage the year-end process, preparation of the annual financial statements and coordinate corporation tax returns
• Management of annual external audit
• Manage the timely preparation and submission of other statutory returns (VAT, Intrastat etc) ensuring adherence to rules and regulations
• Management and development of the Finance Assistant, ensure appropriate objectives are set and performance in line with role expectations
• Oversight and supervising of end to end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process and function
• Manage and oversee corporate expenses process
• Manage the company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems, reviewing effectiveness of controls and processes. Drive change to automate and make improvements as and when required to minimise financial risk
• Other ad hoc duties as and when required


Candidate Requirements –

• Qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA (or equivalent) with 3+ years post qualified experience
• Previous media industry experience would be beneficial however not essential
• Advanced excel skills
• Big 4/practice trained audit background preferred
• Prior experience and working knowledge of SAPbyDesign is advantageous
• Self-starter with a proven track record of delivering results
• Outstanding analytical skills with high attention to details
• Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships across different teams
• Personal integrity and confidentiality are important for this role
